Welcome to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch
375
Your Local Branch 375 in Richmond Hill is active in
helping our living Veterans whether from WW II or later and remembering
those that have past on before us protecting our country and way of
life.
One of the many functions the Legion does to raise
funds to aid our Veterans is the Poppy Day donations. Not only does this
help remind us of our Veterans sacrifices, but allows your Legion to
serve the community.
Through grants and bursary's the Legion helps
Ex-Service Personnel and their dependants, sponsorships for low cost
housing, wheelchairs and other specialized equipment such as artificial
limbs, specialized equipment for hospitals and extras that are not
covered in their budgets, sponsoring Cadets, Cubs, Scouts, Guides and
other Youth Programs.
Every Year there are special dates of Remembrance.
The Candlelight Service at Elgin Mills Cemetery,
this service commences at 5:30 pm.
November 11th, Remembrance Day, at the Cenotaph on
Yonge Street commencing at 10:30 am.
The Ladies Auxiliary and Branch Members visit both
Veterans and members in hospitals and nursing homes to supply comforts
and entertainment to enhance their quality of life.
This and many more services to Veterans and the
local community is done by the members all of whom are volunteers and
deserve our gratitude and thanks for the efforts they put in.
As you see, the Legion is more than just a social
club where one can join and be part of the fun that goes on with sports,
card games, billiard (pool) and getting together to visit with friends.
Today it is not necessary to be a Veteran of
Canadian or Allied Force or family member to join the Legion. Your
membership goes a long way to helping those that need our help and the
community we live in.
Contact the Legion or a member and ask how you can
join or renew your membership.
